[V] Rater
[V] Rater was a segment on Channel [V] music channel that promoted the [V] Rater mobile app and website to its mostly young demographic. The basic idea of this this spot is to promote the app to "Rate or Hate" their favourite songs. The more they rate a song it gets played more and the more they hate it, it plays less on the channel.
When I was designing and producing this work the creative direction was "Analogue". So I thought what better way to do analogue, than actually hand making every part of the design. So every thing in this video is hand drawn, scanned and painted in Photoshop and animated. the logo animation is drawn on computer, then printed out and then hand traced back on to paper and the photocopied 25 times with different contrast settings and then scanned back in for a real analogue image degradation. I wanted the piece to have a vandalised and "graffiti" look, with bright colours like how a kid with a bright highlighter would use to vandalise their hated artists.
